 off the subject a little bit
  Bowfishing is quickly becoming a popular sport. Advice, questions and opinions here are most welcome.

Anybody do any spear fishing how long of a shaft should you get and what type of tip i wanna spear a few when im out bowfishin

Are you thinking of above water use, shooting into the water like in bowfishing. If so you will be real dissapointed. Spear guns are very short range weapons. Like 15 feet max. They are weighted for neutral boyancy so they don't float up or down when used underwater the way they were intended.
If you are intending to use them diving the real long ones are for open water and bigger fish. The short ones are for use around reefs and smaller fish.

if ur talkin bout for carp a long tipped, 6 or 8 prong pitchfork does the job nicely. they also make pitchforks especially for bowfishi ng and make tips u can weld on as well
