looks like you guys are in some open water... i'm guessing they be coming in schools on top of the water and you be a shootin..
Alex Response #13 posted 08/25/2006 10:00 PM EST.
Just some shallow water shooting crooked.... This was right after our grandfather passed away. He used to love fishing on Oneida lake.

I think the rest of the family got mad at us. When everyone else was holed up at the house, the McCombie's (and jeff ) go bowfishing.

To each his own.
crookedeye Response #14 posted 08/25/2006 10:06 PM EST.
Them pics remind me when i used go fishing with my dad at lake maconahay( not spelled right) just call it big mac.. fishin for walley and trout ... i could remember the schools of carp just swimming by the boat..hundreds

but no bows
Alex Response #15 posted 08/25/2006 10:08 PM EST.
There are days on Oneida when the carp are schooled up and you can shoot all day until your arms ache.

NEVER run out of fish

beer maybe

but never fish.

Always a fun lake to go back and shoot for the fun of it instead of tournament shooting.
Mink Response #16 posted 08/25/2006 10:16 PM EST.
I miss bow fishin back up home in that clear water. I used to think it was dirty til I move to GA

Ok alex said that wasn't a good likeness of jeff and I agree so here is another

crookedeye Response #17 posted 08/25/2006 10:19 PM EST.

Mink Response #19 posted 08/25/2006 10:23 PM EST.
It was a good break from the family. It was a very rough time on all the aunts and uncles.

It was good to get away for a few hours
Deerminator Response #20 posted 08/25/2006 10:57 PM EST.
I know where your fishing.

Nice bow ya got there.

It is a great time and great pics.

Before we lost the camp on the mouth of Chittenango creek we would light up that shore line at night with the big lights just hammering the carp. I don't think it's legal any more but you/we use to take many a cat fish too. Big ones at that.
Mink Response #21 posted 08/26/2006 11:34 AM EST.
D
That was lakeport bay. I don't think my bow was in any of those pics. Alex and jeff are using aeroforces, mine is one of the first liteforces produced with the straight riser. I'll see if I can find a pic of it.
Mink Response #22 posted 08/26/2006 11:41 AM EST.
This is the only one that I can find that shows my bow.

Mink Response #23 posted 08/26/2006 11:46 AM EST.
Pontoon boats are the best for fishin with a bunch of friends and family. As you can see theres plenty of room for more shooters. I think weve had up to 9 guys shooting before.

Notice how they put me farthest from the fish they make me shoot from teh other side of the boat

Oh and mink JR is driving the boat, getting big to fast
Deerminator Response #24 posted 08/26/2006 01:21 PM EST.
They must be scared of your abilities Mink.

This comeing spring I'll keep and eye out and save some beers for ya.

Did any of you get any of the BIG ones? Or the BIG BIG 40 - 45 lb'ers?

I thought it looked like the south east shor line.

Great pics.

Mike Response #25 posted 08/26/2006 01:32 PM EST.
You know they are D. That's why I have to keep so much line in my Zero Drag.

I think we had a couple over 30 them alex's scale broke
Alex Response #26 posted 08/26/2006 01:40 PM EST.
Alex's scale broke because Mike is a bouncer!
oooooh look, another 3 lbs

And he was on that side of the boat to keep him downwind!

Actually since Mike Jr. was driving it was because I paid him $5 to keep his dad on the bad side as much as possible
Jeff Response #27 posted 08/26/2006 02:09 PM EST.
you guys are bad. How about the pics of mike tumbling to the back of the boat while he was trying to go to the bathroom
Mike Response #28 posted 08/26/2006 02:13 PM EST.

i Pee'd on me
Alex Response #29 posted 08/26/2006 02:19 PM EST.

Deerminator Response #30 posted 08/26/2006 02:31 PM EST.
What really happen guys? In your own woords.
Did Alex have a hard time holding all your fish?
Sounds like he tryied to bounce you over the side.
Mike Response #31 posted 08/26/2006 02:42 PM EST.
He was to busy fetchin beer for jeff and I.

See when we're shooting just for fun the last man to get a fish in the boat and the man with the smallest fish at the time has to get down and get the other two guys a beer whenever they are thristy

Needless to say I got my first beer and then the rest were on alex and jeff. Jeff scored the second fish I think and Alex fetched beer pretty much the rest of the day

The key is to get the first then the biggest and you'll never be thristy
Alex Response #32 posted 08/26/2006 02:42 PM EST.
I am not sure words could do it justice.

Ok, lets see.

Jeff is driving back at the end of the day's shooting.
Alex is lying on the seat looking backwards out of the wind.
Mike decides he needs to relieve himself over the back of the boat while jeff drives 20mph back.

Directly behind Mike (towards the bow) is a bass seat (swivel chair).

Well, of course you have to screw with your friends right?

Mike no sooner gets started then Jeff drops from 20 to 0mph. Now momentum wants to bring poor Mike towards the bow backwards. Of course he is in mid stream and the fishing chair directly behind him takes him out behind the knees.

With a bear grip on himself Mike proceeds to rollover backwards over the fishing chair, continuing on to the bench seat, continuing further onto the floor head first, down onto his shoulders, and then all the way around until he is laying in the fetal position.... Peeing the whole damn way.

I was laughing so hard I damn near pissed myself. I seriously thought I was going to crack a rib. That poor slob... Feeling little pain from a day on the water with Carp and beer, just trying to relieve himself off the back of the boat.

Then WHAM..

Water, pee, sky, pee, rail, pee, floor, pee

Squeezing as hard as he can (like that is somehow going to stop the sick twisted ride he is now on).

OMG... That was about as funny as Jeff with his mouth, throat, and sinuses completed compacted with high speed carp brains!

But that's another story

Mike Response #33 posted 08/26/2006 02:48 PM EST.
I've never laughed so hard while rolling, tumbling falling, and peeing all over myself and a pretty much all over my uncles boat

I pee'd on me!
Deerminator Response #34 posted 08/26/2006 02:52 PM EST.
OOOHH man that sounds like funny stuff. I'm giggeling pretty good now myself.

Mink Response #35 posted 08/26/2006 02:56 PM EST.
Nope I was good

I went back to alex's and took it out on his sun fish

Mink Response #36 posted 08/26/2006 02:57 PM EST.

Alex Response #39 posted 08/26/2006 03:00 PM EST.
Deerminator...Nah, no brain no pain

Besides compared to the war stories of all our tournament travels in the hunt of the elusive 50lbr -- this was just a funny little roll.

Quite frankly it always amazed me when we came back at the end of the weekend with as many guys as we set out with.

Its a rough crew for sure and only the strong survive.

Take a piece of advice from Mike. If you ever drop your bow in 20 ft of water in the dead of night, and you have jumped in to retrieve it (nicely done btw) and while you try to swim back to the boat (which keeps mysteriously drifting away at the same speed you're swimming at), do not.... I repeat DO NOT yell up to your 5 buddies (all armed with carping rigs) to THROW YOU A DAMN LINE!

Oh he got thrown a line alright!

Survival of the fittest brother.

What doesn't kill you, well just maims you.

Mink Response #40 posted 08/26/2006 03:02 PM EST.
They shot at me D! But I didn't drown
Deerminator Response #41 posted 08/26/2006 03:40 PM EST.
Way to use those natural reflex's to wiggle out of the line of fire.

Explains why Mink hit so many fish too.

FYI, CAG & ACS are looking at that lake hard.
Mike Response #58 posted 08/28/2006 08:35 AM EST.
who is CAG & ACS
Alex Response #59 posted 08/28/2006 08:48 AM EST.
That's interesting Mudfish.

I cant imagine they will get too much of a hold in that lake. The residents are overwhelmed by carp in the spring and many people would like to see them gone - but you never know.

I think Cornell would have some input as well as they are the authority (at least intellectually) on the lake.

I suppose the density of houses is something in their favor. Lord knows the first shot is always about the 500ft.

Mike Cag and ACS (carp anglers, and amercian carp).. The fisherman that try to ban bowfishing at every turn and the ones that have special mats and suave to make sure the carp are not harmed or stressed before they let them go back into the water.
Mike Response #60 posted 08/28/2006 08:51 AM EST.
Ah, We're all are carp fishermen. We just use different tackle

Can't we all just get along
mudfish Response #61 posted 08/28/2006 09:11 AM EST.
What the big lake in Syracuse, Onadgoa (sp?), I think that one is on their list all so. NE is another hot spot they are working on all so.
Mike Response #62 posted 08/28/2006 09:20 AM EST.
Onadoga Is a sewer! I don't know why they would even bother with that one. Nasty lake, shit grows on the fish
mudfish Response #63 posted 08/28/2006 09:38 AM EST.
Time to get a shark Mike, before it get cold and they go out to sea.
Mike Response #64 posted 08/28/2006 09:43 AM EST.
Sharks are in?
mudfish Response #65 posted 08/28/2006 10:36 AM EST.
Yes they are!

Mike Response #66 posted 08/28/2006 10:59 AM EST.
Day or night shootin?

I'm guess night, but I need to double check.
Deerminator Response #67 posted 08/28/2006 11:00 AM EST.
Onondaga lake has come along ways in the last 40 yrs. It now thrives with many, many different species of fish. It's still unsafe to eat anything out of the lake. No public swimming.

The parks dept owns most of the shore line and bow fishing from any park land is illegal. My buddy saw the cops with 2 guys bow fishing across from the French fort this summer. I doubt if the city side is legal either,
( discharging a firearm and all ). From the lake you can shoot any where.

It would be a great lake to have a tournament on, again. There was a few a number of years ago but haven't a clue what happen to it.

Taken lots of carp there, 30lbs plus. My boy and I were working the shore line this spring. His first time, he loved it.

mudfish Response #68 posted 08/28/2006 12:16 PM EST.
Mike day or night, better in the day for the sharks.
Mike Response #69 posted 08/28/2006 12:29 PM EST.
