mudfish Response #9 posted 08/30/2006 03:07 PM EST.
This week the water will get real muddy.
It take a few days for the sea to clam down and a few more to clear up.

I'll bring the camera's and do some video if it's cool with you?
mudfish Response #17 posted 09/01/2006 07:42 AM EST.

We can fish a low tide night, then a high tide going out for a shark the next day. Can try to get some shrimp all so.

I just order a slotted kit and a shot-thru. I will get the shot-thru fast it is coming from Sully, but had to get the kit from AMS.

Beaufort SC, is the where. I live near Camden. So it might be better for you to meet me there.

PS We can buy shrimp there cheap, so you might want to bring a few coolers.

Sounds like a plan
mudfish Response #21 posted 09/05/2006 09:15 AM EST.
I just check shrimp prices, jumbos will be $5 per lb no heads and if we get 150 lbs it will be $4 per lb. The price can change bye then.
Mike Response #22 posted 09/05/2006 10:53 AM EST.
I don't need that much shrimp I'm startin to get pumped. This weekend it's gator huntin on lake seminole. Next weekend shootin (hopefully) a shark off the coast of SC. Life is good

JB Response #25 posted 09/05/2006 02:52 PM EST.
When bowhunting sharks how do you get close to them to shoot one and once you shoot it how do you hold on to it. Do you have the line hooked to something? What do you do with the shark once you get it ?
Mike Response #26 posted 09/05/2006 03:05 PM EST.
We have Bigbird hang over the side of the boat and splash around a bit then you use bowfishing gear with floats attached to the arrows with either Planner board line or Heavier Muzzy gator cord.
Then it's kind of like the movie Jaws i'm assuming. Follow the float, and keep sticking'me till you wear him down.

This is all guess work since i've never been
JB Response #27 posted 09/05/2006 03:14 PM EST.
Just curious..I've never been either..I have caught some pretty good size sharks on rod & reel, some good gators on hook & line then shot em with 30-30 but never bowhunted sharks before..Do you catch em on rod & reel then dispatch em with bow? How are you getting close enough is what I'm after.
Then what do you do with them once you get them?
mudfish Response #28 posted 09/06/2006 07:16 AM EST.
That about it Mike, to finish the shark you tie a rope around his tail and drag him.
It will drown a shark.

JB I know where a sand flat is that you can troll on with a fan and get bonnet heads, might see a small black tip. You can get an 4 footer on a 808 reel bowfishing. That is not that big of a shark only about 30 lb.
panman Response #29 posted 09/06/2006 07:32 AM EST.
Mudfish,JB the fine figure of a man that he is,wants a big one, lol, and,he wants to do it cageon stile, lol. What do ya got for him?.Now rember, its also has to be manly to.I believe hes wantin to set up a fleet of shark huntin boats and wants to get the hang of it before he starts.lolhahhaa.pan.
JB Response #30 posted 09/06/2006 10:29 AM EST.
Now thats funny Pan!! You read my mind!
I watched Jaws one to many times I guess so I was wonderin how in the world do they hang on to them big ol sharks once they are attached to thier bows
I don't really know if I'll have a fleet or not but I sure would like dibs on videos!!! Never the less, you guys be real careful out there.
mudfish Response #31 posted 09/06/2006 12:22 PM EST.
JB, I will use a shot thru reel and at the end of the line is a 3500 open face reel. I am sure on a nice shark will have to be followed around for awhile. Or we will use floats. I have shot a shark that was about 7 foot on a zebco, he ran the line out then the arrow pulled out.
Mink Response #32 posted 09/06/2006 02:04 PM EST.

Bigbird was starting to have second thoughts about this weekend after that last post.

Thanks by the way.

I'm really pumped up now after talking to you on the phone about the sharks, I can't wait!
In the above post you said that we're allowed 1 slot, 1 bonnet head, and 1 sharp hose in the boat, but what about other species? Are we allowed to have them in the boat as well?
mudfish Response #63 posted 09/12/2006 12:08 PM EST.
20 flounder per person
2 slot redfish per person
no limit on rays
no limit on triple tails

that about all the type fish I see there.
Scooter Response #64 posted 09/12/2006 02:26 PM EST.
The shrimp have been pretty plentiful this year in Beaufort. This weekend is looking pretty good. Good luck guys!
mudfish Response #65 posted 09/12/2006 03:09 PM EST.
You got a boat Scooter?
Going to try chumming sharks around 4 pm out of the 170 boat landing.
Scooter Response #66 posted 09/12/2006 03:30 PM EST.
I've got two. My gigging boat is a 13 foot whaler. I need to get it in to have the motor looked at. It only wants to fire on one cylinder. The other is a 18.5 wahoo. That's more my fishing boat.

The landing at 170? Is that the Chechessee or the Broad River landing?
mudfish Response #67 posted 09/12/2006 03:36 PM EST.
Broad River, we could use another boat.
Scooter Response #68 posted 09/12/2006 03:43 PM EST.
I'm not sure the little boat will be up and running by the weekend. I need to get it over to my local wrench and see if he can get it fixed. Do you think my big boat will be too much for what you all are doing?
mudfish Response #69 posted 09/12/2006 03:46 PM EST.
You would want to bring the big boat, we could use it for a chase boat.
Scooter Response #70 posted 09/12/2006 03:49 PM EST.
How many are going?
mudfish Response #71 posted 09/12/2006 03:52 PM EST.
I have 3 in my boat and that is counting me.
Scooter Response #72 posted 09/12/2006 03:55 PM EST.

mudfish Response #76 posted 09/13/2006 11:48 AM EST.
Well I got 2 interlock 3 barb arrows ready and the slot kit installed on the retriever. Got to mount the shot thru, but have to drill and tap the riser. I all so have to pin 2 Sho-Me points to the shaft and all will be ready on my side.

Scooter you should come with us, it is going to be fun.
