Well the first trip was rather unsuccessful
We managed to get off a shot or two but just couldn't seal the deal. The Gators seemed a lot more pressured this year compared to last season. They wouldn't let us get within a hundred yards of them before diving and disappearing into some very dark and nasty water. We managed to get one shot off at a monster (10ft if she was an inch) ,but it struck her in the jaw and didin't penetrate
After about another 4 hours of searching we managed to get close enough for a shot on 7 footer, but had the line snap back during the shot nothing like a 1100 grain arrow flying back at you when your tired.

WOW! Glad no one was injured. I'm assuming your hunting was at night. Sounds like you guys probably had a lot of fun just the same & didn't have all the hastle of fooling with a big ol skanky gator once you boat it...I know you must be a little let down, maybe next trip!! I have a close friend that gets a lot of tags, he is a professional trapper. He goes out and literally fills a boat up with alligators. I was invited to go this past week with him but couldn't make it. I really wanted to get some good pictures for you guys.

Oh Well Poop hapens
I'll get down there another weekend before season closes.
what I didn't mention earlier is I had several opportunities to take 4-6 footers all nite long. I actually thumped one with the paddle. ( he was stupid ) I guess I was just being greedy trying to hold out for a slob to come swimmin up
Oh well thats huntin! sometimes you get'em and sometimes you don't.

Maybe next time Mike, just jump in the water and cramm your fist in his mouth...and then just flip him in the boat! You know...like the way they do with catfish grabb'in! Gotta admit..it would make for some exciting video!

Hey Mink. Two questions:
What bow were you using?
Did you get video?

Danny I was using a BowZone Z-1 for the Gator hunt set at 70Lbs with a Slotted Zero Drag Retriever and Muzzy Gator getter arrows. The bow I had planned on using had some issues in the 11th hour and since I had already been talking with Julie (president of BowZone)about reviewing two more of their models for BowCountry.com she graciously offered to donate 2 bows for the my next 2 hunts. A Z-1 an a Z-2, both of which will be reviewed in the near future.
Being that BowZone is located in my backyard here in GA and I was able to pick the bows up after work the day before leaving for the hunt really saved my bacon
I was able to get some video work done but I will need to finish the job when I go back in the next few weeks. and hopefully seal the deal on a big boar gator.
