If you want to make the drive then thats fine by me. The main spawn for buffs and commons is usually in mid may round here. i dont remember really when it was last year but its usually bout the same time. We still get groups not spawning and some early/late spawners in other times. Sometimes some commons will go into june, but the buffs (the best part ) only lasted for 4 days or so, with a few smaller packs before. so if u can plan sometime around mid-may, that would be the best. If not then, we were also thinkin bout goin to illinois for aerial bowfishing, but still undecided. A good rig would be an older bow (or at least one u wouldnt mine gettin some slime on, i prefer a recurve but a compound works fine) it will be mostly instinctive, using sights is possible but a lot harder. the AMS retrievers r arguably the best, but run for about 70-90 bucks, but ebay has em for 40-50 sometimes. thats the best bet, or u can get a.... crap i dont remember what its called... like drumb thingy for 10-20 but doesnt work as well, but still do the job pretty well. or a spincast real, which i dont have any experience with so ill just pass on that. fiberglass arrows, theres a lot of different kind of points u can get. i use garpoons and like em a lot, but muzzy stingarie (i think thats how its spelled) r my second choice. then muzzy quick release, and theres a lot others. AMS sells a package round here with the real, a rest, and 2 arrows for like 100 bucks i think. the points arnt the greatest, but still work pretty good. ummmmmmmmmm then yeah thats the bow part. lets see here. good polarized sunglasses... most important part... oh yeah, make sure ur arrows have a safety slide system. 40-50 lbs work perfect for draw weight. sorry for the long post i guess im gettin ansy to shoot some fish

might take a few shots to get used to the aiming low, but once u get it, its all instinct. average shots r usually in the 10 yard range. cept when theyre spawnin, then u just gotta make sure u dont shoot the boat

haha jk that happened late season, when a bunch of sand got washed into the river we were on from the lakes. Were prolly gunna be hunting the other side of the river (about 10 miles away prolly) if we hit the spawn right. otherwise we'll be where quazzy had to push.... he lives close by we can give him a ring
