This is a prime example of excessive alcohol consumption...no one that went to the muzzy classic can remember anything about it... try this again... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------if it's not too much trouble... I'd like to have those of you that have attended this event to tell us about it here..sounds like a lot of fun!

Sorry JB, am I ignoring you?
The Muzzy classic starts at 7pm and runs through 7am, and by 7 in the morning your back will be killin ya and your eyes will be burnin. But if your lucky enough to hit the spawn on Gunthersville you'll never forget it.
Some of the best bowfishin in the country.
Really it's a marathon! You'll think by 1am that it's a piece of cake and by 4-5am you'll be praying for th esun to come up so you can just get some sleep.
But if your into Bowfishing it's a blast! Bigbird got his carreer biggest last year, a 55lb grass carp. LEt me tell ya, when i tie into something that large it's a riot!
A lot of prep time goes into boat prep, just to abuse your body but in the end it's all worth it

Bigbird, could you tell us a little about how you got that monster carp..what was going thru your head at the time..(not talkin about the booze)...give us a good description..I got to make it to that Muzzy Classic..I got to find me a partner I reckon.. cmon guys ! quit being so tight lipped!!... Ya'll just love making me beg and pull everything out of you..

JB
Bigbird barely had him on th eline and it took me 3 friggin shots to stick him. It took both of us to drag his big butt into the boat.
BigBird is all wet because, at about 630am when making a pass thru our favorite cove, we struck a pole just under the water line sending bigbird and almost me ou tof the boat.
He did manage to take both of our bows ad he flew out Funniest damn thing I've seen in a long while!
The Muzzy classic allows for 3 man teams so if you want in for this April just let us know!

Here some more pics: http://www.bowfishusa.com/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=123
I have more I will try to put in.
The Muzzy is the biggest turny in the south. 70 something boats for 2005 and 69 boats 2006. We have a cook out on Friday before the turny for guys that are scouting. The Days Inn in Scottsboro is where it is at and most team stay there. The Muzzy is no easy thing to win, hspeed and crew has won it 3 times. When you see the 2 prop airboat, that their ride. You better find 20 big fish.
PS It is a very big lake.

We will be have the 3rd annul meet and greet linch/dinner at the Days Inn on Friday.
We had shrimp boil last year and are talking about that this year.
I let you know more when I know.
Here what shrimp boil is, if you did not know: " Low Country stew recipe made with crab boil, shrimp, corn, and smoked sausage. INGREDIENTS: 3 ounce pkg crab boil 2 1/2 pounds smoked link sausage 1 or 2 flavors 12 ears fresh corn 3 to 4 lbs fresh shrimp unpeeled PREPARATION: Fill a large kettle with enough water to cover all ingredients. Add crab boil; boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Cut sausage into 2-inch lengths; add to water. Boil for 25 to 30 minutes. Break ears of corn in half; add to kettle; boil 10 minutes. Add shrimp; boil 5 more minutes. Drain and serve immediately with sauce and melted butter. Serves 12. "
PS Most people all so add red potatoes.

Better do it quickly. We have 40 teams now and there are always about 10 or so local teams that will sign up at the shoot. I imagine if the weather holds good we will hit that 80 mark or beyond. Lord help us! Mark

Only three or four lbs. of shrimp in that recipe...? We boil crawfish kinda like that but usually twenty or twenty five lbs at a time...

JB that just a recipe I got off the net, so people would know what Boil is. When I make it I add snow crab legs and more shrimp, with corn and potatoes per person.
Mike I got the boat and will go, the water should be real clear now. But we can not take reds till March. Just flounder now.
