I was awakened during the night by an animal that was producing quite a scream. It was too dark to see anything. It was making this sound about every minute as it walked by the cabin. I went through my mental rolodex of critters it might be but couldn't quite come up with anything. My first thought was it might be a mountain lion but didn't think a mountain lion would make that sound continuously. A mountain lion, in my mind, would make a sound if corned. I then thought it might be a moose calf looking for its mother. That's the only thing I could come up with. The next day we were on a hike and I saw a ranger. I asked the ranger what he thought I heard. I tried to imitate it the best I could. He was pretty sure I had heard a fox. I wasn't totally convinced as I figured a fox sounded like a coyote in that they would produces barks and yips. Well looky what I found. This is the exact sound I heard. Who knew these little critters could make such a sound. This one is just for your viewing pleasure. 2.) It's good to see some positives. 4.) DParker - 07/11/2014
Was in Colorado last week on vacation and staying in a cabin near Grand Lake. Swamp Fox - 07/11/2014
Reminds me of my honeymoon. :::rim-shot:::

Asleep at the wheel?
LOL Yeah, sometimes they really get going. I had some people down the road from me that didn't know what the sound was and were a little freaked out about it. They described it to me and I could tell...It was probably the same little boogers who come by to sample cat food at my place. They have little kids and I thought about making up a boogeyman or a panther story for them, but I decided I'd better not. :wink Some stuff really gets to wailing in the woods. One of my favorites is owls chuckling. There's not much of it in here, but it's still a pretty nice bit of audio. I can't find one of a bobcat. I didn't look too hard, but I had to give up. A lot of youtube audio of bobcats, panthers and bigfoots turns out to be foxes, LOL. 7.) Deerminator - 07/11/2014 also theres the big foot howl |
