Hunter - 03/09/2013 It was over 10 years ago when this big yellow cur dog wandered up in our yard. She decided she wasn't leaving! She was to be our yard dog which of course only lasted a few months. Since then she has slept in the corner of our bedroom every night. She was a varmit-hunting expert, She was really hard on armadillos and snakes. When we brought in the new pup a couple of years ago, Annie became his adopted mother... taught him how to run down those armadillos. The last couple of months, she has really become pretty feeble. Tuesday evening we took the dogs out for what ended up being her last walk in the woods. The 2 young dogs found an armadillo in a hole and dug him out but he was so big they had a hard time killing him. After watching for a minute, Annie finally couldn't stand by any longer and stepped in and crunched the armadillo with one bite falling down in the process. Too much effort it seems. She then had a hard time keeping her hind end under her. We had her put down today but she had a good life, was a good friend and went out in style! 2.)
