The wife and I have always liked TSO and had wanted to see them live for a long time, so I took the whole family to their performance at the Americans Airline Center in downtown Dallas a couple of years ago. Never again. The 'rents wore a hole in that album... Also, possibly the most acceptable [I]Ave[/I] on youtube, LOL I almost put one up last night, but nearly all are more about the singer/production than the music, which is a Bozo AND a Santa no-no. What always impressed me about that particular rendition of hers (Nana Mouskouri has done several recordings of Schubert's [i]Ave Maria[/i]) is that she makes German..which is not the world's most melodic tongue...sound like a divinely-inspired language.

Damn...you're right....that [i]is[/i] the Latin version. I have the German one you posted on my iPod, and the intro sounded the same to me. That'll teach me to listen for more than a few seconds before thinking I've found what I'm looking for. Then again..maybe it won't.

I think it's sometimes hard to pick up what language a piece like [I]Ave Maria [/I] is in, especially with a singer like Mouskouris because there's so much going on with the voice. It's worst with Latin, Italian, etc.
If you're ever in need of another excellent [I]Ave[/I] auf Deutsch, look up Helene Fischer. I think I'll save her version (killer) for next Christmas, but my Magic 8 Ball says "Chances are high" that I'll be playing some of her pop stuff in the Friday Videos thread pretty soon, LOL. :wink "Don't make me play polka!" :grin: 44.)
