Speed Limit on the lake! Do they really think I can Row my boat over 5 M.P.H.? Or Swim Faster Than 5 M.P.H.? Dick 2.) Alex - 04/22/2013 I have seen this too. It's because (believe it or not), some canoe mounted trolling motors can buzz right along. Usually you see these right near a designated swimming area. Still stoopid, but not unique. 3.) bluecat - 04/22/2013 If you ever see motors that are 9.9 horsepower it is because of lakes that have a 10 mph limit. This was the manufacturs way of being "street" legal. Look for 4.9 horsepower motors now GP. 4.) grandpawrichard - 04/22/2013 Blue, a 4.9 hp outboard motor is still an Internal Combustion motor. :( I guess I'm going to have to buy a 70 pound thrust electric motor! :( According to the Regulations, I Can Not Even Launch my 14 foot river boat in the lake as long as I have the Gas Motor mounted on the boat! It looks like I won't be fishing that lake this year because my 25 H.P. Outboard is Too Big and Heavy to keep taking off and then putting back on just to go fishing for a few 10 inch long trout! Dick 5.) bluecat - 04/22/2013 Oops, yeah I missed that GP. :co: 6.) grandpawrichard - 04/22/2013 Looks like I'll just hold off on the trout fishing until the river by my house opens up! :) It's only a mile to the boat launch, so I can get there quick, catch my limit of BIG Trout (Steelhead up to 12 pounds, Dolly Varden and Cutthroat Trout to 7 pounds). And I won't have to remove the outboard motor! Dick 7.) DParker - 04/22/2013
Do they really think I can Row my boat over 5 M.P.H.?
Well, you never know when some olympian is going to come along, drop his scull in the water and start hauling derrier across the lake. We rarely would go to the big engine expect to get across the river to a new location. |
